KERRY KING Unveils His Solo Band, Streams Debut Single “Idle Hands”
Kerry King, renowned for his work with Slayer, has recently unveiled his solo band along with their debut single “Idle Hands”. The band features a lineup of notable musicians including Death Angel vocalist Mark Osegueda, former Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph, ex-Machine Head and Vio-Lence guitarist Phil Demmel, and former Hellyeah bassist Kyle Sanders. Their debut album, “From Hell I Rise”, is set to be released on May 17 via Reigning Phoenix Music and is produced by Josh Wilbur.
King’s choice of band members was influenced by his desire to create something distinct from Slayer, despite knowing that comparisons are inevitable. Initially, he considered including Slayer’s Gary Holt but decided against it to avoid the band being labeled as “Slayer Light”. Phil Demmel joined the lineup after impressing King during a stint with Slayer in 2018.
King also acknowledged considering Pantera’s Philip Anselmo for vocals but ultimately felt Mark Osegueda was the right fit due to his versatility and ability to deliver the performance King envisioned.
The album “From Hell I Rise” will feature 13 tracks, including titles like “Diablo”, “Where I Reign”, “Residue”, and the lead single “Idle Hands”. King has expressed that the album will cater to fans of Slayer’s various musical styles, from thrash to heavy metal, ensuring that there’s something for everyone who has appreciated his work over the years.
