MAROON 5 Singer Adam Levine Says ‘No Hot Chicks Listen To Metal’
Adam Levine, frontman of Maroon 5, has stirred the pot not just with personal drama but also with his bold takes on music genres, which some argue are outside his expertise.
In a 2018 Variety interview, Levine dished out his perspective on rock’s current standing, emphasizing Maroon 5’s leanings towards more rhythmic beats like hip-hop and R&B from the get-go.
His observation was, “Rock music is seemingly missing. If it’s around, I haven’t been included. All the groundbreaking stuff is happening in hip-hop. That’s where the real, raw, and avant-garde music is, which is why people gravitate towards it.”
Slipknot’s Corey Taylor wasn’t having any of Levine’s rock critique. He clapped back on Twitter, implying Levine’s ‘Moves Like Jagger’ hit doesn’t qualify him as a rock connoisseur and cheekily suggested Levine might be better off sticking to his gig on ‘The Voice’.
Levine later weighed in on the fading spotlight on bands, reminiscing about the era of Maroon 5’s debut and the more band-centric music scene of that time.
He expressed his yearning for the return of bands to the forefront of the music scene, despite noting that shows like ‘The Voice’ might have contributed to their reduced visibility.
Moreover, in a candid conversation with Alyson Rosef, Levine quipped about metal music’s appeal, allegedly remarking, “Said no attractive women ever, except you” when Rosef revealed her taste for metal. The screenshots of their exchange made rounds for those curious.
