James Hetfield might be the lead singer and frontman of the legendary American metal group Metallica, but that doesn’t stop this concert-hardened veteran from showing his soft side and his love for his family. While Metallica might have performed sold-out shows in arenas all around the world, there is something special about this performance. In a touching moment, Hetfield shared the stage with his own daughter, Cali, in a heartfelt performance of “Crazy For You” by the British singer Adele.

Watching this father-daughter duo take the stage in such a loving and heartfelt way was sure to melt the hearts of the entire crowd, and of the four and a half million people who have watched this clip on YouTube. Cali’s soulful voice is a delight to listen to, and it’s a pleasant change to see Hetfield pick up the acoustic guitar and take things a little slower than usual! Watch the performance in the video below:

This sweet performance between Hetfield and his child isn’t just a lovely sight to behold; it also holds a significant purpose close to Hetfield and many others. The performance was at a concert called “Acoustic-4-A-Cure”, which was set up by Hetfield and Sammy Hagar to raise funds and awareness for the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF. Some of music’s biggest stars have performed at the event, including Billie Joe Armstrong, Jerry Cantrell, and Pat Monahan.

Metallica is one of the most successful metal bands, and arguably one of the biggest bands the world has ever seen. Their career spans a staggering 40+ years and has created some of the greatest metal hits to ever grace the genre, while also influencing a plethora of other bands and musicians in their wake. They continue to make music to this day, but their timeless classic albums will stand the test of time and go down in history as some of metal’s pioneering moments. Take a listen below:

Not only are Metallica adored by fans all over the world, but they are also internationally renowned for their impact on the music industry. Their list of accolades is immense, especially for a metal band, with some of their biggest hits earning the band coveted Grammy Awards. Between 1990 and 1992, Metallica won Grammy Awards for ‘Best Metal Performance’ for “One”, “Stone Cold Crazy”, and for their fifth, self-titled record, Metallica.

Metallica’s lineup has been consistent over the course of its 40-year history, with a few main exceptions. Bassist Cliff Burton was renowned in the metal community as being one of the most influential members of the band, who skyrocketed the success of their 1984 record Ride the Lightning before his unfortunate death in 1986. Dave Mustaine was also a member of Metallica for a brief moment, before a disagreement that led to him leaving the band, and eventually forming the legendary thrash outfit Megadeth.
