Metallica with Dave Mustaine – Live In SF 1983 | Could have been one of the best metal duos of all time

On December 10th, 2011, Metallica held a memorable concert at The Fillmore in San Francisco, California. This event was significant as it marked the final show of Metallica’s 30th Anniversary celebration. Among the highlights of this concert was the performance of “Phantom Lord” featuring Dave Mustaine, the former guitarist of Metallica and a founding member of Megadeth.

“Phantom Lord” is a track from Metallica’s 1983 debut album “Kill ‘Em All.” The performance at The Fillmore was a rare occasion, as it was one of the first times in many years that Dave Mustaine joined Metallica on stage to play songs they had written together in the early days of the band. Mustaine’s last performance of “Phantom Lord” with Metallica before this event was back on April 8, 1983, in Staten Island, NY.

The concert also included other acts like Death Angel and Soul Rebels Brass Band, and featured various special moments, such as Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath joining the band for a cover of “Sabbra Cadabra,” and Ozzy Osbourne performing “Iron Man” and “Paranoid” with Geezer Butler and Metallica. Jason Newsted, a former Metallica bassist, returned to play a couple of songs, and the show had a mix of other remarkable collaborations and unique performances.

This event was not just a concert but a reunion and a celebration of Metallica’s rich history, bringing together former band members and collaborators for an unforgettable night.
