Legendary Alice Cooper Is Getting Cancelled
Alice Cooper, often called the “Godfather of Shock Rock,” is at the center of controversy due to his comments on transgender issues and children, leading to the end of his partnership with Vampyre Cosmetics. The company, which is a supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community, disagreed with Cooper’s statements and decided to cut ties, sparking a lot of discussions online.
Cooper criticized the idea of transgender surgeries for minors, calling it a “fad,” and also spoke against “woke culture.” This led Vampyre Cosmetics to announce on Instagram that they were canceling their makeup collaboration with him, expressing their support for the LGBTQIA+ community and the right to accessible healthcare, and offering refunds for all pre-orders.
In an interview, Cooper shared his views on gender identity, especially in young children, which caused quite a stir: “I find it wrong when you’ve got a six-year-old kid who has no idea. He just wants to play, and you’re confusing him telling him, ‘Yeah, you’re a boy, but you could be a girl if you want to be’.”
He also said, “A lot of times, I look at it this way, the logical way: If you have these genitals, you’re a boy. If you have those genitals, you’re a girl. There’s a difference between ‘I am a male who is a female, or I’m a female that’s a male’ and wanting to be a female. You were born a male. Okay, so that’s a fact. You have these things here.”
Cooper’s remarks have sparked a broader debate on gender identity and society’s views, leading to both professional consequences for him and a heightened discussion on LGBTQIA+ issues.
