Ozzy Osbourne Shares ‘Heartbreaking’ Reason He Won’t Perform Live Again
In a recent conversation with The News, Ozzy Osbourne shared why he won’t be returning to the stage. Reflecting on his spinal surgery after a fall in 2019, he said, “I went to the doctor, thinking they knew what they were doing. My son Jack has a video of me heading into surgery, saying, ‘I’ll see you in a few minutes.’ I haven’t walked properly since.”
While many think his disability is due to Parkinson’s, Ozzy blames the surgery instead. “I mean, when I came off the quad bike in 2003, I still went on tours, and I had Parkinson’s back then. It was THAT f*cking surgery,” he explained.
The rock icon has faced numerous health challenges, including seven surgeries over five years and his long battle with Parkinson’s, which he was diagnosed with in 2003.
Recently, Ozzy was spotted in a wheelchair with his wife Sharon in Santa Monica, Los Angeles. Appearing frail, he was helped by two friends, a blanket covering his knees. Despite wearing a face mask, plain black T-shirt, and sweatpants, his tattooed arms, gold jewelry, and long black hair made him unmistakable. This sighting came nearly a year after Ozzy stated he wouldn’t perform in a wheelchair, telling Rolling Stone he refuses to take the stage while weak.
“I’m not going up there and doing a half-hearted Ozzy, looking for sympathy,” he said. “What’s the point? I’m not performing in a wheelchair. I’ve seen Phil Collins perform in one, and he’s got almost the same issues as me. But I couldn’t do it.”
On October 12-13, Ozzy and his family—Sharon, Jack, and Kelly—made a rare appearance for an autograph signing and photo ops at the Son of Monsterpalooza horror film convention, held at the Marriott Burbank Convention Center in California.
